Norwegian Highlights

Innerdal Valley

From a trip to Innerdalen, a famous alpine valley in western Norway. I started from Storlidalen, approx 40 kilometers west of the ski resort village of Oppdal. The first day I took the northerly route along Langevatn. The next day I hiked eastwards in the Innerdal Valley itself, through the Innerdal Gate (Innerdalsporten) back to Storlidalen.

A most enjoyable trip. I stayed at the Renndølsetra Inn, a small hut which may accomodate around 20 guests. It is usually open in July and August each year. If you walk another 500 meters you will find the larger Innerdalshytta lodge, open all year round.

An easier access route by car is first to drive to Sunndalsøra, then head north to Ålvundeid, then take a right turn and drive all the way to a parking lot. From there it's an hour easy hike to Innerdalshytta lodge. Rock climbers often use this valley for training and practising purposes.
