Trollstigen Pictures

A collection of amazing pictures from Trollstigen.

The Trolls Path road was built in 1936. It has an incline ratio of 1:12. It climbs the mountain side in eleven bends and crosses the Stigfossen bridge halfway. The waterfall is 180 meters high.

I visited Trollstigen a weekend in July and took approx 90 pictures. You will find most of them on these pages. You are welcome to copy and use them for your own entertainment.

All photos as seen on these pages are automatically generated from the originals which are of 2mega pixel size.

Henry Knutsen, one of my web viewers has submitted this story about his youth in Åndalsnes.

Some photos taken en route to Åndalsnes

I drove from Trondheim early saturday morning. I took the E6 road bound for Oppdal and Dombås. At Dombås I took the E139 to Åndalsnes

Overlooking Åndalsnes

Some pictures overlooking Åndalsnes.

Trollveggen

The famous Trollveggen, or literally, Troll Wall. It's not hard to imagine that lots of trolls are standing at the top.

From Trollstigen

Lots of pictures, taken from different locations along the road.

Photos from the horse trail

The old horse trail has been restored. Hiking along this trail is very exciting, I used 1 and a half hour, including time to take photos. Midway at the bridge, there is a difficult passage, you literally have to walk in a small stream of water. If you don't have good hiking shoes, I will strongly discourage that you pass this point. If you fall, you will most likely end up in the waterfall beneath.

My favorites

20 of my favorite pictures.

Other pictures

A couple of more photos, from the mountain pass over to Valldal. Even in July, be prepared to meet King Winter at the top of Trollstigen.
